The village of Radda, where the Chianti Lega historical society was born in the 13th century, is located at 500mt above the sea
level and it is rounded by wood and hills. In the village of Radda in Chianti there are many interesting locations
to visit: for example, the Church of San Giusto in Salcio and the Church of Santa Maria Novella. Villages as Volpaia and Castelvecchi.
In the territory of Radda in Chianti, the heart of Chianti Classico zone, there farms that produce wine which are famous all over
the world like Castle of Abola and Castle of Volpaia.
The origins of Radda date back 2000 b.C. The village of Radda has Etruscan origins, baut there are few signs of Etruscan period that
you can see in some ancient buildings and in some archaeological finds. In the V century during the fall of Roman Empire, the Chianti
zone was constituted by little villages of 5 or 6 houses. Their names are famous still today: Radda, Monterinaldi, Volpaia, Castelvecchi
Albola. In the IX-X century the villages of Chianti, under the power of noble Guidi and Marchesi of Tuscany, started to be turned into
hamlets. Radda began to become bigger and bigger. Those little villages are in the territory of Radda still today and keep their
medieval structure.
