VILLAGES IN THE TERRITORY OF RADDA IN CHIANTI

Badia of Montemurois a little village located on about 700 meters on the sea level in the territory of Radda in Chianti. In origin it was composed by two small monasteries of Camaldolesi located on the Monte Muro, one devoted to San Michele and the otherone to San Pietro. The monastery that was devoted to San Pietro today represents the actual prioria of Monte Muro in the plover of Santa Maria Novella in Chianti. The today's church of Monte Muro is built with the material of recovery of the ancient abbey. The village overhangs the Monte Querciabella and the Monte San Michele that are the highest tops of Chianti mountains.

The Castle of Palagio is present in the historical files beginning from 1252, but is thought that it’s much more ancient. The mighty base of the ways and the mighty boundaries also embellished from the central tower, have allowed the castle to withstand several attacks and events that during its history has had to face. During the centuries it has suffered some small changes however, among which the addition of the battlement, intervention finished wing end of the nineteenth-century. With the revival Granducale and the end of the continuous military emergencies, also the Palagio turns himself into the Villa and is embellished of works of art, while a new impulse is given by the agriculture, where the grapevine and the olive make the lion part.
