PALIO OF SIENA
Palio di Siena. This famous horse-race you can find in "Piazza del Campo" twice a year, exactly the 2nd of July
and the 16th of August. This is unique horse-race in the world between 17 historic districts - "Contrade" of Siena.
The horse-race is three circles around the square that is paved wit stones. For the race they put a kind of sand in the square in
oredr to let horses ride better, aven if this does not avoit some falls in the dangerous turns. The most dangerous turn is "curva
di San Martino".
Only one of the districts - "Contrade" can win the horse-race. The winner celebrates all night long. Fundamental ingredients of
"perfect Palio" is the combination of the horse and the jockey with luck and the enthusiasm of the people.
